Faber Castell Monochrome Pitt Graphite Graphite Pencils and Crayons

Pitt Graphite – highest artist’s quality
The Pitt Graphite program offers all creative activities a rich selection of pencils and chalks in different degrees of hardness for sketching as well as for graphic and flat work. The „green pencil from Faber”, which has already been mentioned by van Gogh and Goethe is now incorporated into our everyday lives. The 16 different degrees of hardness range from the delicate grey tone to the deep graphite black and offer the artist great variations. The graphite pure leads are true masters for high-contrast and large-scale painting. Depending on the printing pressure and hardness, the spontaneous expressiveness of these leads is unsurpassed. These leads are sharpened like a normal pencil. The graphite chalks are an ideal work medium for very large sketches and surfaces with high yield. They should be sharpened with a sharpening knife.

Examples of use: Hatch, chew, line and area
By hatching you can thicken the line to surfaces that can be worked out very evenly by overlapping at different angles. Depending on the degree of hardness and painting pressure, these surfaces can be made from soft grey to intense black. When you shimmer the graphite pen tilts very flat to the paper and does not press too much when painting. You will then receive an even colour surface that can no longer recognise the individual stroke. You can achieve particularly good results with this technology with the Graphite Pure. By using the tip, edge and surface you can draw with graphite chalks a variety of stroke widths and surfaces. The tilt angle creates additional stroke variations.

Examples of use: Towel and paint with the brush.
Graphite products are ideal for terry towelling. With this technique, the structure of the surface is expressed when painting. Especially the chalk allows for unlimited variety in the artistic application of this process. By mixing the surface with paraffin oil (salad or baby oil) and a bristle brush, the intensity of the „graphite application can be reinforced. This means that the graphite chalk is easy to handle especially large surfaces.
Watercolour graphite pencils, water-soluble pencils.

Unique effects thanks to water solubility
The water solubility is not only very popular in the field of colour pencils, but also gives a classic medium such as the graphite pencil a very special touch. This additional feature opens up the classic pencil a completely new dimension. Unique watercolour effects give drawing dynamics and painterly character. It is not only the ideal instrument for pre-sketching silk oil or acrylic painting, but is also ideal for mixing techniques with oil, acrylic and ink.

Use the degree of hardness targeted
The different degrees of hardness allow for clear contrasts of light and dark watercolour washes. When painting the graphite with a wet brush, the intensity of the gray values can be deliberately controlled by more or less water. The dazzling grey values vary from light grey (HB) to jet black (8B). The structured structure of the gradation creates an intense watercolour depth.

Drawing in wet area, washes
A special effect is achieved by drawing on wet paper. Depending on the degree of moisture, the line flows very painstakingly on the wet surface and gives the drawing an additional, spontaneous character. For complementary washes, you scrape with a knife graphite powder from the lead and then colour the abrasion with brush and water.

Tips and tricks
Since the lines are no longer visible when painting with water, the Graphite Aquarelle is also suitable for pre-sketching silk painting. The graphite can be painted with a wet brush or sponge. The Graphite Aquarelle can be sharpened with an artist’s sharpener. It is recommended to use watercolour paper.
Pitt Charcoal – Natural Charcoal

Tried and tested traditional artist’s material
Charcoal is the oldest sketching and drawing material in the world. It is easy to rub or smudge, is easy to correct and can be painted over and over again. The old masters were fascinated by their grey-blue colour in the stroke. The naturally produced carbonised willow branches have a unique shimmering score that gives drawings an expressive character. Faber-Castell has added two more product developments to this classic drawing material: The charcoal and the charcoal pencils. Crushed natural coal is enriched with soot and compressed with clay again into a chalk. The colour is significantly blacker and can be differentiated in five hardnesses. Charcoal drawings should be finally fixed.
Natural Charcoal Charcoal Charcoal Pencils and Sticks
Natural charcoal is ideal for displaying a wide range of textures. Thanks to the intermediate fixings, dark surfaces can be built from a large depth. The Pitt Charcoal Sketch Charcoal Pen allows for more precise drawing and detailed work. By rubbing charcoal pieces with your finger or the paper wiper on the drawing surface, you can make expressive drawings. Thanks to the lateral guidance of a broken coal, large areas can be filled quickly. For additional washes, scrape carbon dust from the lead to the paper with a knife and then use brush and water to paint the abrasion into a paintable surface. All charcoal items from the Faber-Castell Art & Graphic range are highly fade-resistant.
Pressed Charcoal Charcoal Charcoal Pencils and Sticks
Due to an extremely high proportion of blackening components, the pressed carbon is the ideal instrument for drawings, sketches or independent work. It guarantees a colour spectrum from light to jet black due to different degrees of hardness. The variable proportions of the chalk composition determine a consistent colour abrasion and consistent adhesion to the paper. The charcoal allows a variety of stroke variations and expression possibilities thanks to the use of its edges and surfaces. By using the charcoal pen, the range of applications of pressed charcoal is extended by drawing precise lines. The deep black abrasion can be easily smudged with the finger to a uniformly intense colour surface or the finest gradients. Charcoal is therefore suitable for working on large surfaces. Due to high proportions of blackening components, the pressed charcoal can be mixed with paraffin oil and a bristle brush into homogeneous colour surfaces. Pressed charcoal is sharpened with a knife.
Pitt Monochrome – Artist’s Pencils and Crayons

Fine quality artist’s pencils and chalks
Almost every art column can find the monochrome colours Rötel and Sepia in the nude classes. They give the drawings vitality, vibrancy and expression. Lightened with white and the shadows darkened with black, this is an ancient tradition of figurative drawing from the Renaissance. Pitt Monochrome chalks take up this ancient tradition of figurative drawing, which is why the chalks for the drawing application are harder than usual pastels. As the colour smudges, the lines do not dissolve completely. The red and sepia chalks are complemented by grease-free and greasy drawing pencils for details and lines. The Faber-Castell Pitt Monochrome Artist’s Pencils and Crayons are highly fade resistant.
Pitt Monochrome Artist’s Chalk
The wide range of uses of the Pitt chalks opens up the drawing a newly gained freedom: The artist chalks with the highest light resistance and luminosity are oil and grease free and therefore easy to smudge. Thanks to the square profile, the edges can be used for drawing fine lines as well as the surfaces for extensive work. The use of different degrees of hardness, as well as the smudging, rubbing and overlapping of colour layers allow for manifold colour mixes and the finest colour nuances in the tones white, bister, reddel, sepia and black. Abrasion and colour depths can be varied by different printing characters. After intermediate fixation, new colours can be applied precisely. With the entire width of the stick, you can design large areas. The narrow bar edge allows you to draw wide lines. Endless line variations are obtained by turning and pulling the chalk at the same time. Fixing the finished drawing is recommended.

Pitt Monochrome Artist’s Pencils
The variety of uses of the highly pigmented artist’s pencils range from the finest line guidance to flat work. The grease-free Pitt pastel pencils are particularly suitable for contours, studies and detailed drawings, which makes them ideal for supplementing the use of chalks. Drawings are given extra expressiveness by smudging lines. The Pitt Oil Base is, however, smudge-proof and waterproof, so its lines remain clear when rubbed. The combination of both pen types and different degrees of hardness offer a wide range of applications, with which artists can expand the individual character of their drawings and sketches. On a previously slightly fixed colour surface, the lines remain precise and brilliant. The pastel pencils are suitable for detail and for setting exact depths and shadows. With white light points are set and colours are brightened.

Brighten and blend with white
When the different earth tones are lightened by weight, their different colour characters come to their full effect. Depending on the colour pigment, the colours mix differently to cold and warm shades. White is not only used for setting lights (mainly on tinted papers) but also for smudging and blending. Two different degrees of hardness facilitate the different painting techniques.
