Faber Castell Gelatos Mix & Match Gelatos Water Soluble Crayons

Gelatos watercolour crayons are unique on the market and captivate above all with their unsurpassed variety and intense bright colours. The acid-free and odourless chalk sticks glide wonderfully easily over a wide range of surfaces such as paper, fabric, canvas and wood and stick to almost any rough surface. They can be easily wiped with your finger or watercolour with a brush, handling is very easy. The wide chalk stick is particularly suitable for flat work. The colour-intensive, water-soluble chalks can also be easily mixed into liquids. Gelatos can be used for painting, stamping or as a spray of paint and are ideal for collage techniques and mixed media. Whether watercolour pictures, collages, gifts, invitations, objects or jewellery, the many applicable techniques offer creative leeway to the individual style of the artist.

Drying techniques.

Blending

When blending gelatos are applied in different shades and smeared inside each other with fingertips, cotton buds or paper wipers. This allows you to create great colour gradients and blends.

Edging

Expressive frames are created during edging. Here colours are applied roughly on the edge of a card or paper cut and smeared towards the middle of the paper.

Vibrant colours

Gelatos are particularly suitable for creating strong, opaque colours on dry materials due to their fast, smooth colour release and their opacity. Large surfaces, wood or cardboard can be coloured with gelatos in no time at all.

Wet techniques.

Stamping.

Gelatos can be wonderfully stamped. The stamp surface is moistened, coloured with one or more colours gelatos and stamped on paper or other flat surfaces. Beautiful, spontaneous watercolour effects are guaranteed!

Dripping

The whole variety of water solubility is evident when dripping. In this technique, gelatos are applied to paper, roughly smeared with your finger and then moisten with a spray. The liquefied paint starts to run as soon as the paper is pivoted. The strength of the gradient can be controlled by tilting the paper and additional spraying with water.

Spritzing.

Interesting effects are created by the spray. The surface is sprayed with water and then the gelatos are applied or vice versa.

You can now paint the colours with the brush.

Other techniques.

Stencils

With self-made or purchased stencils, you can create extravagant surfaces. The stencil is placed on the paper and the Gleatos can be smudged in the recesses of the stencil or sprayed in wet form. By reducing colour with a baby cloth or cleaning cloth, paint surfaces are effectively brightened.

Gesso.

To give colours a body-like and opaque consistency, a piece of chalk is dissolved with little water and mixed with a little gesso. Depending on the mixture, very pastel tones are created. The colours made in this way can be used for painting, spatulas, stamping or other creative techniques.

Modelling clay.

Gelatos are ideal for colouring modelling clay. Simply paint the chalk in a bowl, then dab the colour with the modelling clay and work into the mould. For vibrant structures, roughly crush the chalk in the bowl and model with the modelling clay to the desired shape.

Liquid paint.

The water solubility of the gelatos allows for a variety of creative applications. The easiest method is to paint with water and brush. A piece of gelatos dissolved in lukewarm water can also be used as a spray paint. Large area or sprayed over stencils, beautiful patterns are created in no time at all. Dots, lines or free, picturesque accents can be easily set with a pipette. Dotted with a sponge, spontaneous structures of an image composition give an artistic character.
