Some HP printers are intended for use only with ink cartridges that have new or reused HP chips or electronic circuits. These printers use dynamic security measures to block print cartridges with a non-HP chip or non-HP electronic circuit. Regular firmware updates maintain the effectiveness of these measures and block print cartridges that previously worked. Re-used HP chips and HP electronic circuits allow the use of reused, remanufactured and refilled ink cartridges.
