The foundation stone of the success story of the now world-renowned traditional company from Hanover was laid by chemist Carl Hornemann on 28.04.1838 with the publication of the first price list of his painter’s paint factory. Only a few years later, after Europe-wide expansion, writing instruments and office supplies were also introduced.

2018 was a special year for us – Pelikan turned 180 years old on April 28 and looks back not only on a long, but also very eventful time. It all started at that time with the founding of a paint and ink factory in Hanover by the chemist Carl Hornemann. With the publication of the first price list on April 28, 1838, business activity started – and the story of a now world-renowned and successful brand.
